Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) successful partnership with Jollyes Petfood Superstore continues as the petfood giant recently expanded its UK operations with the opening of a new retail store in Darlington.
Jollyes is the largest independent chain of pet superstores throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, providing a wide variety of branded pet products. Following a large expansion programme, the company has opened a number of new stores in the UK; with the newest opening in Darlington, North East England.
For the new store, the petstore giant required a new floor system that was decorative, yet hard wearing for both foot and vehicle traffic. Due to AFS’s unique relationship with key suppliers (enabling them to select and install the best flooring system to suit the client’s requirements) a MPM Duroglass Flake system was recommended for the new Darlington retail store.
AFS began by using their own in-house specialist surface preparation equipment. The old concrete substrate was prepared using vacuum shot blasting and single head grinding to remove contaminants and help give a key for a new floor system to be applied. Following preparation, AFS then applied MPM Duroglass P1/2 as the primer coat over the prepared concrete substrate. A MPM Duroglass P5/4 screed was then hand troweled on, with decorative coloured flakes broadcasted into the screed.
Finally, grout (Duroglass P51LV) and seal coats (Polistar Deco) were applied to protect the new floor and complete the project. The new MPM Duroglass Flake floor system gives the client a not only a decorative floor, but also one that is hard wearing (to both foot and vehicle traffic) and chemical resistant – perfect for a major retail outlet like Jollyes Petfood Superstore.
The latest engagement sees AFS strengthen their ongoing relationship with Jollyes, having already supplied and fitted similar floor systems in their Clydebank, Leeds, Perth, Newry, Colchester, Maidstone, Ellesmere Port and Lisburn superstores.
