    AFS engineer a precision finish for McKenna

    With years of sector experience, Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) provided McKenna Precision Engineering with a precision flooring finish during a recent upgrade.

    Based in Fintona Co Tyrone, McKenna Precision Engineering is the UK and Ireland’s leading precision engineering company. With a diverse range of clients worldwide, McKenna Precision Engineering required a specialist flooring contractor to supply and install a high build protective flooring system suitable for the demanding requirements of today’s engineering companies.

    With year’s of experience in providing specialised flooring systems for the engineering sector, McKenna Precision Engineering selected Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS). AFS began the project by aggressive preparing the existing concrete floor using their in-house surface preparation equipment. Diamond grinding was deployed to remove the old failing existing floor coating and prepare the concrete substrate for a new flooring system.

    Following aggressive surface preparation, AFS installed MC DUR1365HBF as a primer due to existing oil in the slab. AFS then supplied and installed 2 coats of MPM Duroglass P5/4 to an R10 slip-resistant finish. 2 coats of clear sealer to FLT routes helped successfully complete the project.

    The high level of surface preparation and installation methods applied, helped provide McKenna Precision Engineering with a hard-wearing floor system suitable for today’s engineering industry.

    AFS prove a successful ‘catch’ for Irish Fish Canners

    Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) proved to be a successful ‘catch’ for Ireland’s leading fish canner – Irish Fish Canners – after successfully installing a new floor system in the Dongloe production facility.

    Based in Dongloe, Co Donegal, Irish Fish Canners is the largest fish canning facility in Ireland and is located along the “Wild Atlantic Way” – Ireland’s premier deep-sea fishing area. Ireland’s leading fish canning provider required a flooring contractor to help upgrade their Dongloe facility by installing a new chemical resistant flooring with anti-slip properties. Irish Fish Canners set a further key requirement – for the project to be completed with minimum production downtime.

    With year’s of experience in supplying and fitting flooring systems for the food and fishing manufacturing industry, Irish Fish Canners engaged AFS to install a high-quality slip-resistant floor system around their unique production periods.

    AFS began the project by vacuum diamond grinding the existing concrete floor and applied a primer scratch oil resistant primer as an initial coating. Following preparation, AFS supplied and fitted a MPM 9mm screed to the floor and coving areas.

    Broadcast quartz were added to the floor to help ensure it carried a R11 anti-slip rating, along with its chemical resistant properties. The installed flooring system not only meet the requirements set by the client, but also those required in today’s demanding fishing industry.
