Donegal ETB turned to Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) to help remedy flooring issues in their Letterkenny welding workshop.

Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) provides a broad range of Educational Services including post-primary schools and colleges, further and adult education and third level education.

The County ETB turned to AFS after numerous other contractor flooring systems failed in their welding workshop in Letterkenny. The result of the failed floor systems meant that the workshop floor was becoming unsafe and expediting damage to the underlying concrete substrate.

AFS was selected by Donegal ETB due to their years of experience in helping remedy failed flooring systems. The industrial & commercial flooring experts began the project by removing the existing floor system using their specialised in-house surface preparation division.

After preparation, AFS installed a primer coat over the prepared concrete substrate to act as a key for the new floor system. A leading floor screed was then hand troweled on with decorative coloured flakes broadcasted into the screed.

Finally, grout, joints and seal coats were applied to protect the new floor and complete the project. The new floor system will provide Donegal ETB with not just floor system that won’t fail, but also one that is hard wearing, decorative – helping ensure their training and education continues in a safe flooring environment.
