Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) installed a new high chemical resistant and anti-slip flooring system for Seagate in their Springtown production facility.
Seagate is the global leader in data storage solutions, developing products that enable people and businesses around the world to create, share and preserve their most critical memories and business data. The worldwide manufacturer required a flooring contractor to replace a failed coating system over 1000 sq metres in their live plant rooms.
With previous successful engagements and a strong track record of similar successful upgrade projects, Seagate turned to AFS once again. Unlike other flooring contractors, AFS is to be able to specify the best flooring system to suit a project’s requirements rather than promote one particular product manufacturer.
After onsite consultation with the client, AFS recommended a MPM Duroglass HCR to give a high chemical resistant coating finish. AFS always recommend specialised surface preparation for every project to ensure a successful flooring installation. AFS do not subcontract this vital stage out, but rather use their own in-house specialised surface preparation division.
AFS started the project by removing the failed coating system using vacuum diamond grinding on the main floor area and vacuum-assisted hand-held grinders for edges and other small tight areas. Following preparation, AFS primed the floor with MPM Duroglass P1/2.
After curing an intermediate coat of MPM Duroglass P5/4 was then applied. As the new floor required a high level of chemical resistance, AFS applied a coating of MPM Duroglass HCR and broadcast in 5% glass bead to ensure the floor meet with current R10 anti-slip standards.
AFS then completed the project with the demarcation of upstands using MPM Duroglass P5/4 in yellow throughout the 1000 sq metres plant room.
