After 7 years of continued use, global fish manufacturer Pelagia engaged with Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) to ensure the successful upgrade of their important bund tanks at their Killbegs facility.
Previously known as United Fish Industries, Pelagia is a leading producer of pelagic fish products for human consumption, and an important supplier of essential ingredients in all kinds of fish- and animal feed; protein concentrate, fishmeal, and fish oil.
AFS has had a long-standing relationship with Pelagia with many successful floor systems installed throughout the years. The fish manufacturer required their bund lining tanks at their Killibeg facility to be relined after 7 years of use. AFS has a strong background in the restoration and installation of new bund lining systems for many global and local companies throughout the UK and Ireland.
AFS used their in-house surface preparation division to prepare the 250 sq metres of bunds by open grit blasting to remove any contaminants and ensure a clean finished surface. After preparation, AFS installed a primer coat of MC DUR 1365HBF, followed by 2 finish coats of MC DUR2098.
The newly restored bund tanks will give Pelagia a further 20 years of pain-free service.
